Niamh and Caoimhe Fenlon were performing amongst other ND athletes in Athlone at the weekend. Niamh had a disappointing day in the u18s on Saturday as she injured her knee leaving the blocks in the hurdles. She limped across the line in 4th, later managed a few standing throws in the shot where she was 4th again but had to pull out of the 200m.
Caoimhe had a great day on Sunday in the u13’s with three golds.
60m hurdles was first where she was fastest qualifier for the final and improved to 10.80s to take gold and the title.
Next was long jump and after a bronze in the outdoor champs last year in this age group she improved to gold this time with a 3.77m last round effort.
In the shot she had produced a big PB of 8.60m in the final round to claim gold again.
