The main event for North Down AC’s runners this week was the annual St Patrick’s Day 10k race which saw competitors run from Belfast City Hall through west and south Belfast. Speedy times, including PBs for Dean Varley, Jack Russell, Sarah Gibson and Emma Hegarty demonstrated how anxious the thirsty NDAC runners were to beat the remainder of the 2640 runners at the event to the rehydrating pints of Guinness which awaited them beyond the finish line in Ormeau Park!
Dean was the first of the NDAC runners home in 21st place in 36:10, an incredible PB of 1 minute and 11 seconds! He was closely followed by Jack Russell, just 4 places behind, who also recorded a PB in 36:14. Melissa Eccles was the 3rd female to finish in 37:46 in 46th place overall. Tadhg Ryan-Charleton, 38:22, Eamonn O’Reilly, 38;42, Philip Mulligan, 39:08 and Colin Walker, 39:55 all finished inside the top 100 places. Les Wilkinson, 41:28, Sarah Gibson, 41:39, Michael Hennessy, 40:55, Brian Geddis 42:03 and Andrew Muir, 44:23 were closely followed by Terry Eakin, 45:09, Jacob Sullivan, 47:45, Paula Simpson 47:43, Emma Hegarty, 52:44 and Pat O’Driscoll in 1:03:12.
Well done to all who ran in NDAC’s yellow and blue, or the green Craic “away kit!”
