The Yas Marina race track is usually associated with names like Hamilton and Verstappen and teams like Mercedes and Red Bull, however on Monday 10th April North Down AC’s Fiona McQuillan took pole position and top step on the podium as she won the female race on the iconic F1 circuit, smashing her PB in the process, in a time of 18:49! The race enjoyed cooler temperatures with an 8:30pm start and followed the GP circuit from turn 5 at the grandstand to a turnaround point at the start finish line. 5k runners completed 2 laps while in the single lap 2.5k race 9 year old Isla McQuillan finished 3rd in the U12 girls race and her younger sister, Reeya and dad Peter completed the family outing in 23:49.
