2 of North Down Ac’s multi-talented young athletes were in action at the NI & Ulster Combined Events at the Mary Peters Track on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd July. While most of us are content with racing one distance over a weekend, Joshua Liggett was first up in the U15 boy’s pentathlon incorporating an 80m hurdles race, 4kg shot putt, high jump, long jump and 800m. He ran 13.27 for the 80m, threw 8.28m in the shot, jumped 4.88m and 1.48m in the long jump and high jump and ran a superb 2:36.03 to cement his win in his age category.
Anna Moran was up next in the U17 women’s heptathlon where she ran 15.57 for the 80m hurdles, jumped 1.24 in the high jump, threw 9.02m in the 3kg shot, ran the 200m in 29.50, jumped 4.68 in the long jump, won her class by almost 6m in the javelin throwing 17.83 and rounded off he weekend with a 2:51.82 800m. She finished 3rd in her category and 2nd in NI & Ulster.
