North Down AC were well represented throughout the club’s annual 5k trail race in Crawfordsburn Country Park on Wednesday 2nd August. Nicola Stevenson and her hard working team of volunteers from the club ensured the race was efficiently organised and marshalled, while many more club runners were able to run the original trail race route from the bus park in the main car park back to the visitor centre, with even more hills than runners familiar with the weekly parkrun course are used to!
David McKeague 18:26 was the winner with Alasdair Mair 19:20 claiming 3rd place narrowly ahead of Andy Lowry 19:25, 4th and David Massey 19:34, 5th. The top ten finishers were rounded off by Eamonn O’Reilly 20:03, 9th and Philip Mulligan 20:08, 1oth. Luke Dobson 20:54 and Tim Cooke 21:28 both made it into the top 20 before Clair Quigley finished 2nd female in 21:29. Alan Massey 21:34, Kevin Mulligan 22:22, Les Wilkinson 22:48 and Sarah Connolly22:57 all finished comfortably inside 23 minutes before the flurry of yellow and blue vests of Stephanie Graham 23:13, Lindsay Doulton 23:15, Luke Hamilton 23:17, Donald Smith 23:18, Gerry O’Boyle 23:22 and Keith Gilmore 23:24. Robert Martin made a welcome return to racing in 23:39 followed by Jacob Sullivan 24:41, Olivia Cumming 25:15, Claire Charleton 28:04 and Caroline Gilmore 30:19. Sophie Hamilton ran her first 5k race in 33:30.
