North Down was well represented in the annual fixture between Northern Ireland U23 v Irish Universities v Scottish Universities v Leinster U23 which was held in Antrim on Tuesday. Irish Universities won the Mens match and Northern Ireland U23 the womens. Fourteen year old Hannah Lewis was the star. Having been selected for long jump where she was 2nd with 5.22m., she was also drafted into the 100m where she was 2nd in 12.94 and also into the winning 4 x 100m relay along with Amy Foster.
Michael McConkey won javelin with 58.77m with Peter Glass 4th with 47.65m. Peter was also 4th in discus with 30.63 and 3rd in 110m hurdles in 16.76 with Luke Reynolds 4th in 18.55. In the womens 100m hurdles, Stacey Mullan was 2nd in 16.52 with sister Erin 4th in the 400m hurdles with 69.14. Ben Worthington was 2nd in the shot with 12.31m and 3rd in discus with 30.73m with workhorse Peter Glass 4th with 30.63m. Richard Lockhart was 2nd in the hammer with 44.34m and 4th in shot with 10.23m. Scott McCauley was 4th in the long and triple jumps with 6.17 and 12.74m.
In addition Claire Scarth and Paul Curran were Team Managers and John Saulters competed for the Irish Universities with 2nd in the 200m with 22.81 into the wind.
