North Down AC were well represented at the McConnell Shield Cross Country at Sixmilewater Park, Ballyclare on Saturday 4th November. Isla McQuillan ran well in the U14 race completing the 1 mile course in 9:53. The senior ladies and male veterans raced over 3 miles with Les Wilkinson running 22:17 and Terry Eakin winning the M70 age group in 23:05. In the ladies race Fiona McQuillan was first NDAC finisher and F40 winner in 20:53. The excellent turn out of North Down girls included Clair Quigley 21:29, Claire Scott 24:06, Paula Simpson 24:25, June McMinn 24:35, Olivia Cumming 25:30, Marion Beattie 25:53, Karen Keery 27:13, Kim McCourt 27:38 and Lisa McMeechan 27:45.
In the senior men’s 5 mile race Craig McMeechan finished 6th overall in 28:08 leading the NDAC men’s team to 3rd place. The other 3 scoring members of the team are Finn Johnson 29;15, Daniel Dines 29:40 and Francis Marsh 31:30 who also took 1st place in the M55 category. Steven Donegan was the next finisher in 31:53 followed by David Massey 33:42, Philip Mulligan 35:31 and Luke Dobson stepping up for a strong run in the senior race in 36:29.
