On the first real weekend of winter in Northern Ireland while most North Down AC runners were still shivering after a chilly 10k in Ormeau Park, 3 club members headed to Spain to consolidate a tough year of training and competition with a little winter sunshine at the Valencia Marathon. The fast, flat course always attracts a strong field of international athletes; this year’s finishers represented 107 different nationalities! First of the NDAC trio to finish was Matty McParland with an excellent PB of 2:39:10. Sarah Gibson finished in 3:11:36 and Paula Simpson ran her second fastest marathon in 3:50:06.
