North Down AC members were saddened to learn of the passing of a lifetime member and stalwart of the club, Ken Hawtin on Sunday 21st January. Some older members remember him as a Classics teacher at BRA, and a fine sailor as well as a talented athlete and coach who provided sterling service to the club and wider athletic community over many years and most members knew him from his enthusiastic support for all club ventures, most notably the Hawtin Shield. The thoughts of everyone associated with North Down AC are with Mrs Lynn Hawtin, his family and many friends. A full tribute will follow in due course. At the time of writing funeral details are unknown.
