Sprinters were again to the fore on Day 2 of the Age Group Championships, this time for years born 1986 to 1990 ie U16 to U20. It is not easy these days to upstage Amy Foster and sure enough Amy did the sprint double with all the older groups combined. However Hannah Lewis managed to trump it with a treble of 100m, 200m and long jump plus heat wins in both sprints. Kim Shaw also won the 1989 200m despite all her recent injury and illness problems. With the boys, Peter Glass had a treble at shot, javelin and pole vault.
Lauren Scott and Jessica Craig had seconds at 800m and 1500m and Nicola Simpson third in her 800m, all three being first among the NIAF clubs. Erin Mullan won the sprint hurdles. There was a good selection of medals among the boys too, spread across the events with the Campbell boys doing well. The older boys dominated the throws with David Keys having a good double at the hammer with 44.40m and the discus with a new club record of 43.67m.
