Triathlon specialist Thomas Simmons capitalised on his improving running form to achieve 3rd spot in back-to-back Triathlon races last weekend.
Thomas has been training regularly with the MD/Distance group over the past year, with some outings over the country and road, in an attempt to improve his weakest run section – and this has now paid dividends.
On Saturday 18th June he placed 3rd – in a field of over 200 – in the Sligo sprint Tri and then made the trip to Blackrock the following day to repeat his 3rd placing. Notably, he clocked the 5th fastest run stage – a big improvement on last year – and his new running ability should be an asset to the club when the XC season starts.
