Brendan McConville was leading GB scorer on the first day of the European Cup for Combined Events at Jyv?skyl? in Northern Finland though the team was struggling against very strong opposition. Brendan opened with 11.41 for 100m, had a seasons best long jump of 6.85m, shot putted 12.65m, high jumped 1.92m before running a pb (and regaining the club record) in the 400m with 49.48. This gave him 3765 points and 15th place, 4 places higher but 100 points down (all in high jump) on his official prediction. After recent injury problems, Brendan was just happy to get past the two jumps with his knee intact and not too much rustiness from missed training.
