Nearing the end of a brilliant track season, Amy Foster and Hannah Lewis were in the medals at the AAA Agegroup Championships in Birmingham. Amy was 2nd in U17 100m and 3rd in 200m. She ran 11.93 secs for 100m (a legal pb ) and 24.06 for 200m (a pb but the wind was +3). Hannah was 3rd in the U15 long jump with another good jump of 5.39m.
It was a good weekend for Northern Ireland athletes with Jenny Brown (MUAC) winning U15 shot with 12.29m, Jason Harvey (LVAC) 2nd at U15 HJ with 1.90m and Stephen Scullion (NBH) winning U17 1500m steeplechase in 4:20.32.Amy opened with 12.10 for 100m into a -1.8 headwind, finishing 2nd in the fastest heat. She then ran a legal pb of 11.95m (0.0) to win her semi final. She beat her pb again in the final when she and the winner both had the same time of 11.93 (+1.2). In the 200m she qualified from the semi final in 24.56 (+1.0 )finishing 2nd. In the final she finished 3rd with a new fastest time of 24.06, unfortunately inadmissable due to the +3.0 wind.
Hannah also did the 200m in the U15 agegroup. She was 3rd in her heat in 25.64 (+0.6}, 3rd in the semi final in 25.50 (+1.2) and 6th in the final in25.86 (+1.0). In the long jump she got the bronze medal with 5.39m
David Keys was the 3rd North Down athlete in Birmingham and he was 10th at U17 discus with 39.86m.
