[Not a valid template]Despite making up over 250 points in the final 800m event, Katie Hewitt had to settle for 2nd in the U17 Girls Heptathlon in the NI Multi Event Championships. Katie’s enforced absence in recent months had not affected her running and she won all three track events but could not make up ground to Linzi Heron in jumps and shot. Matthew Heaney finished 4th in the U17 Boys Octathlon with his best event the javelin causing difficulty to all with the landing in strong crosswinds. Jack Campton and Daniel McAllen had steady performances and finished 4th and 5th in the youngest age group Pentathlon.
The Northern Ireland Senior Decathlon Championship was retained by Edward Dunford of Birchfield and Mandy Gault won the Senior Heptathlon. Unfortunately neither Tom Reynolds (elbow injury) nor Peter Glass (illness), whom Ed probably expected to face, could take part.
