Win for Jordan in U17 race @ UUJ

Jordan Neill easily won the 5km U17 race (in 18:14) at the Abbey promoted XC races at UU Jordanstown – with a swift final lap – after a group of five U17s eased through the first two and a third laps together. This group included John Carlisle, who was lying in 2nd place with 1km to go before pulling out after twisting a knee in the wooded section. Robin Brown ran a solid race ? after losing 20m going off-course ? to finish 5th in 19:01.

The vets and the ladies (senior & U20) joined the U17s in the same race and Nicola Simpson showed good endurance with her run over the same 5km distance.

Jessica Craig and Lauren Scott ran a closely fought race in a group of four a little behind the first two runners with Jessica finishing 3rd in 13:03 and Lauren 5th in 13:07.

Despite the wet and cold conditions, the last race of the day was worth waiting for. Paddy Hamilton of Annadale ran out winner (in 25:12) over a good quality senior men?s field after a 7.5 Km duel with Thomas Frazer (St. Mals) 25:17 with Paul Pollock (Abbey) 3rd in 25:55. North Down?s James Budde did his best to run through his back pain to finish better than the previous week for 11th in 27:31
