Stormont again saw.the strongest fields of the season with the supporting races packed with cross Channel and cross border visitors, attracted by the inclusion of the races in the UKA Challenge series. The day was cold and grey but dry and the course was firm. North Down athletes stood up well and had some good runs. Francis Marsh, although now 40, disdained the vets race for an excellent showing in the main race with James Budde and Michael Dyer also featuring. In the main womens race Stephanie Hambling was 5th F35 and Hilary Kernaghan 3rd F40 while Hugh Young was first M65 in the mens vet race.
They were all upstaged however by the U13 boys who were team bronze medallists with Josh Lowry 7th and 2nd local, Mark Armstrong 17th and Harry Heyburn 29th. Playing a football or rugby match before a race is now routine so top player Harry also fitted in 2 hours hard tennis practice.
