The Irish Schools Championships were held in Dublin at DCU. In the 3500m Intermediate Girls Race, Lauren Scott (Glenlola) was 44th and in the 2500m Senior Girls Race Nicola Simpson (Lagan College) was 30th and Kerry Iveston (Sullivan) was 58th. Bangor Grammar runners in the 5000m Inter Boys included John Carlisle 23rd, Mark Patterson 53rd and Michael Patterson, who fell at the start and was badly spiked, 78th.
