With the temperature 42C in the shade, Brendan McConville was 3rd in the 110m hurdles in 15.21 sec and won the high jump with 1.95m at the Western Australian Championships in Perth, the last of the Australian State Championships. He had intended doing more events but late changes in the timetable saw some events moved from Friday to Sunday clashing with his travel arrangements. Brendan has now left Western Australia and has arrived in Melbourne and is in the team camp to find the weather on the East Coast nothing like as hot. Coach Claire will remain in WA until Friday. Eva Massey is also in the camp, having prepared differently using indoor competitions in the UK and travelling with the majority of the team last Friday.
