AAI Under 20 and U23

Amy Foster came within touching distance of the standard for the World Juniors 100m (11.90) when she ran 11.93 secs in the heats of the AAI Junior Championships at Tullamore on Sunday. Unfortunately she ran into a headwind in the Final which she won in 12.01 secs  In the U23 Championships, held at the same time, Jason Blanc opened his season with a pb when he won the long jump with 6.62m. There was another treble for in-form Jeremy Harper who won the U23 discus with 46.26m, shot with 13.31m and the 35lbs (16Kg) weight with a pb of 9.46m.Amy narowly beat Niamh Whelan of Ferrybank who ran 12.08 secs in the final of the 100m but Niamh turned the tables in the 200m final when she was given the nod over Amy in the photofinish, both timed at 24.43 secs. Amy ran 24.76 secs in the 200m heats.

David Keys competed in the U20 discus and finished 6th with a best of 40.24m with the 1.75Kg implement.
