In very gusty conditions, a small Northern Ireland team featured in the U23/U20 Inter-Area Mach in Derby for the Cleveland Cup. Michael Dyer came first in the 800m in 1:58.48 after a slow 64s first lap before he picked up the pace at 500m and then kicked away with 120m left into the strong headwind. Jeremy Harper had slight injury niggles with his throwing hand and only managed 2 landings in the throwing sector for third at discus with 42.98m – but should be fine for team trophy and national final.
