There were just the two teams in Lisburn for the Wallace Park Relays with Robin Brown doubling up in both races. The U19 youths team of John Carlisle, Robin and Niall Robinson were 2nd in 20:30 min for 3 x 2200m and the open mens team of Francis Marsh, James Budde, Alex Donald and Robin were 5th for 4 x 3300m in 42:51 min.
[Not a valid template]In the U19 race the boys got off to a good start with John disputing the lead with St Malachy”s, both athletes crossing the line together in 6:33 min, with North Belfast 3rd, 9 secs back. Robin went with the others for the first of his two laps but moved steadily clear in the second, finishing in 6:43 min. Niall, who was still in the U17 age group, could not prevent Ryan Faulkner, the Ulster Schools Cross Country Champion, crossing the line first for St Malachy”s in 20:14 but he held on for 2nd with 7:11 for 20:30 min with North Belfast retaining 3rd in 20:52.
[Not a valid template]In the open race, Francis stayed in the biggish leading group for most of the three laps but he defied the strong wind by pouncing near the end to cross the line first in 10:08 min ahead of Derry, Abbey and Annadale Striders. Paddy Hamilton then ran a fast leg for Annadale to take them into a lead they never lost. For North Down James Budde with 10:30 min, Alex Donald with 11:20 min and Robin Brown with 10:55 min ran well to finish 5th. Annadale won in 40:37 with North Belfast 41:32, City of Derry 41:36, Abbey 42:15, and North Down 42:51.
Annadale also won the Vets race and City of Lisburn won the Ladies Race.
