The Ulster Schools was held on a sunny mild Valentines Day at Mallusk. Love may well have been in the air but mud was very much in the ground. Congratulations to the club athletes who had good runs to qualify for the Irish Schools. Sophie Strutt (Victoria) was 11th in the Intermediate Girls, Nicola Simpson (Lagan) and Katie Hewitt (Sullivan) were 9th and 12th in the Senior Girls, Robin Brown (Sullivan) and John Carlisle (BGS) were 9th and 11th in the Senior Boys. Niall Robinson moved up an age group and also qualified in the Senior Boys as a member of the Campbell team. Heptathlete Katie, not usually a cross country runner, probably had the best result with a top 12 finish as well as leading Sullivan to a team qualification.Qualification for the Irish Schools goes to the first three teams, six individuals outside the teams and all in the top 12. The Irish Schools take place on Saturday 3rd March at Dublin City University, Glasnevin, Dublin 9.
