[Not a valid template]North Down athletes were again in medal form at the Irish Indoor Championships when the second day was held at the Odyssey Arena. Jeremy Harper was 3rd in the Shot with a new pb of 14.67m behind Roman Sebrle of the Czech Republic, the world”s top decathlete. Amy Foster reached the 60m final finishing 4th in 7.69 sec. Tom Reynolds continued his current excellent form in the 60m hurdles, being second in 8.40 sec to Roman Sebrle in the semi final and 5th in the final in a another new pb of 8.40 sec. Hannah Lewis had probably the best performance with 2nd in the “B” 200m fiinal in 25.78 sec.
The Irish Championships are a closed event and the large number of visitors warming up for the European Championships in Birmingham were officially guests. As a result Tom was silver medallist in the hurdles and Hannah was bronze medallist in the 200m. Jeremy was shot silver medallist.
Ben Reynolds competed in the high jump with 1.70m to add to his pole vault experience on the opening day.
In addition to the Irish Senior Championships the weekend at the Odyssey also included the Ulster Age Group Championships, the primary schools agility challenge and events for Special Olympics athletes.
