[Not a valid template]There was another good NDAC turnout at the Queens 5K road race with eighteen finishers from all the club endurance squads. Jordan Neil showed form in keeping with the impressive training sessions he has churned out this winter. Jordan spent last year in rehab and hasn”t looked particularly comfortable in cross country but he was in his element on the fast Queens course and he was fourth in 15:31 min and first junior.
Francis Marsh was 13th in 16:03 min and was second vet and the scoring quartet was completed by Robin Brown in 24th and Simon Seaton in 27th, Simon squeezing the race between two Satueday Half Marathons. Gary Swenarton was first M55. The mens team were fourth while Ange Perrott, Nicola Connery and Jill Dowie were also fourth in the womens team race by two points.
North Down results were Jordan Neil 4th 15:51; Francis Marsh 11th 16:03; Robin Brown 24th 16:24; Simon Seaton 27th 16:31; John Carlisle 37th 17:03; Nicklas Arkensparr 40th 17:15; Jordan Stokes 54th 17:53; Brian Barron 73rd 18:28; Gary Swenarton 82nd 18:39; Thomas Simpson 91st 18:57; Kris McKee 113rd 19:31; Brian Smith 148th 20:12; John McGarvey 204th 21:46; Ange Perrott 220th 22:10; John Monaghan 226th 22:16; Nicola Connery 227th 22:17; Jill Dowie 257th 23:04.
The race was organised by Queens athletics section to their usual high standards with excellent promotion resulting in 529 finishers on a night when Northern Ireland were at Windsor Park (sorry about that Nick). It was won appropriately for Queens by Holywood medical student Paul Pollack from Diarmuid Grant and Paul Rowan.
