Good Turnout at Seeley 10K

[Not a valid template]North Down AC had 30 finishers on Saturday at a well-attended and competitive Seeley 10K Road Race on Saturday, a race which incorporated the Northern Ireland 10K Championships. Jessica Craig (5^th), Julie Balmer (8^th) and Rachel Gibson (9^th) were 2^nd in the ladies race (3 to count), scoring 22 to North Belfast’s 20 with Dromore  3^rd.  The race was won by Kerry Harty of Newcastle with North Belfast  athletes 2^nd and 3^rd. A hypothetical North Down B team of Melissa Eccles (14^th), Debbie Matchett (16^th) and Ali Robinson (18th) would have finished 4^th and a C team 6^th.  Annadale, with the first 3 led by Paul Pollock, took the mens team title (6 to count) from North Belfast. Armagh, were 3^rd team and North Down 4th with Michael Dyer (16^th), Jordan Stokes (18^th), Francis Marsh (24^th), Mark  Patterson (31^st),  Dennis Scott (44^th) and Mark Weir (58^th). The race entry was capped at a thousand runners.

As usual with the last major 10K of the year, there were loads of personal bests and seasons bests.  Notable pbs from the girls included those from Rachel, Melissa, Ange and Valerie McDonough while in the men, Mark Patterson,  not usually regarded as a 10K runner, posted a useful  33:56.  Michael and Jordan also posted seasons bests. Though the race conditions were sunny if  cold at the start, a subsequent shower was unpleasant.

In the categories, Julie was 2^nd F35 but collectined the 1^st prize as Gladys Ganiel O’Neill was 2^nd overall. Debbie and Francis waere 2^nd in their respective over 45 categories and David Seaton was 1^st in a largeish M65 entry,
