Armagh International Road Races

10 North Down athletes headed down toArmagh on Thursday evening for the annual international road races and came back with plenty of prizes.

In the Womens 3k, Stephanie Hambling continued her excellent form this winter in taking the vets40 1st prizes (clocking around 11mins dead): a race that saw a fine return for Mary Cullen – winning the race in a new course record of 9:08/9. Jessica Craig started the 3k feeling unwell had to drop out.

Next up in the loaded men’s 5k, Michael Dyer hung on to a respectable 15:40 time after an exuberant opening 3k in around 9mins dead. The final race of the evening, the mens open 3k, saw Niall Robinson overtaken by Conal Kirk in the home straight to take 2nd  (8:40) with Jordan Stokes 5th (8:57), Francis Marsh 9:21 (1st v45), Dennis Scott 9:45, Lloyd Hannigan 10:17 and Ciaran Farren 10:50 completing the 6 to score winning team – while Terry Eakin took 1st V60.
