Boston Marathon

Obviously everyones thoughts are with the people in Boston but we understand that North Down members Michael Roberts and Stephen Purdie both participated and are safe. A quote from the Northern Ireland Running site includes “As of 10pm on Monday night (15th April 2013) we can confirm that Sean Smith, from Newry; Michael Roberts, from Belfast; and Stephen Purdie, from Bangor are all safe.  Ballymena Runners’ Tom Mills and Eamonn Loughran and their families have also notified friends that they are ok.  At present we have not heard anything about any other NI participants.  However, on Tuesday morning (16th April 2013) RTE News reported that all Irish runners had been accounted for, while the BBC reported that there has been no confirmation of any British casualities.  We will add any further news that we feel is appropriate.  Our thoughts are with anyone affected by these terrible events.  For more detailed information please visit the BBC and UTV websites as well as local Northern Ireland newspapers”
