John smashes PBs at Irish Uni.s

John Saulters made a great start the track season by setting new PBs of 50.46 and 23.22, at 400m & 200m respectively, at the Irish University Championships held at University College Cork this weekend.

Good conditions on Friday saw John set both PBs in qualifying for the finals on Saturday in which he finished 5th in the 400m (52.16) and 4th in the 200m (23.10w). However strong winds prevented a fast 400m or a legal 200m clocking. These runs were followed by 100m and 400m relay legs giving John a very busy weekend.

John faces NDAC team mates in his next 2 meets. Brendan McConville is likely to line up against him over 400m at Wednesday’s QUBvUUJvNIAF match, whilst he will probably face Michael Dyer when moving up to race over 800m at next Saturday’s open meet. Should be interesting.

OTHER NEWS: Francis Marsh has failed so far to recover from his hip flexor/groin injury -sustained during the winter – and is likely to miss the first half of the track season.
