The Irish Schools Championships were in Tullamore on Saturday with conditions good other than a moderate swirling wind. Michael Gaffney (Campbell College) did best of the club members, winning the Junior Boys javelin with 49.19m. Glenlola was 2nd in the Interemediate Girls 4 x 100m relay to the powerful Abbey Vocational squad and the Bangor Grammar Senior Boys 4 x 100m team also took 2nd. Both teams contain North Down AC members, the girls representing us in the National League last Sunday.
Third places went to Sarah Connolly (Glenlola) in the Intermediate high jump with a pb of 1.65m, to Clare Robinson (Regent House) in the Senior 100m hurdles with 15.85 (-2.5), to Oliver Wakefield (Priory) in the Junior 100m with 11.86 sec (-0.1) and to Matthew Stockton (BGS) in the Senior javelin with 50.00m. Oliver was disappointed in the long jump with 3 no jumps as was Clare in the triple jump with 5th in 10.59m and Alex Catherwood with 4th in the high jump with 1.60m.
Others competing in individual events included Olivia Cumming, Elleana Hull, Rebekah Rutherford, Laura Potts, Sophie Cree, Aaron Corbett, Mark Burton, and Andrew Mellon.
