Francis Marsh returned to Tullamore on Saturday for the well-attended Woodie"s DIY Irish Masters Championships to find it still on the wet side. He won double gold in the V2 (M40) 800m & 1500m races. He won the 800m (in 2:06.65 – pic shows him crossing the line in first) with a last 100m sprint in an otherwise fairly slow tactical race in trying to conserve some energy for the 1500m later, which combined the separate V1(M35) and V2 (M40) races. Here he beat the M40 field by 7secs and was only headed by a more fresh M35 Kieran Carlin to clock 4:14.90.
