Schools Internaional Pentathlon

England won three of the four age groups at the Schools International Pentathlons at the Kelvin Hall on Saturday but the U18 boys title headed Ireland"s way led by Jason Harvey and Ben Reynolds who were 2nd and 5th overall in a tight finish. Ben had an excellent hurdles finishing joint 1st with top-ranked Welsh decathlete David Guest and, with a good shot and long jump, he was 3rd going into the final event but the 800m saw him drop to 5th and Jason move up to 2nd. Ben"s results were 60m hurdles 8.33 sec (900 pts); shot 13.08m (672); 200m 24.33 sec (664); long jump 6.41m (677); 800m 2:14.53 min (531).  In other age groups Ulster athletes Joanna Mills and Steven Colwell were top Irish scorers.
