On Sunday 8th September, the final race in the Pure Running Half Marathon Series took place for the Waterside Half Marathon in Derry with a big field and excellent conditions. Keith Shiels of Foyle Valley and Anne-\Marie McGlynn of Lifford were the winners of the male and female races in 69:46 and 79:47 min. Julie Balmer and Darren Hamilton were the only North Down runners to make the trip with Julie having another excellent race to take 2nd in 83:23 after another big tussle with Kelly Neely. Darren was 85th in 89:06 min.
Julie continued her impressive run of podium finishes, claiming 2nd and she was pleased with her run which was her fastest in an Irish half Marathon. She was 1st at F35, a category in which she had long guaranteed 1st in the Pure Running Series.
