McConnell Cup Meeting in Ballyclare

 

On Saturday the 79th annual running of the McConnell Shield Cross Country, hosted by East Antrim Harriers in Ballyclare. Was well supported and included Round 3 of the ANI Cross Country League. Beforehand, U14 and U16 races took place with Zara Mulholland 2^nd in the 2 mile U16 girls race.  North Down girls then had a tremendous turnout of 14 finishers in their 3 mile race to gain maximum participation points and led by Julie Balmer 8^th and Roberta Dornan 13^th  were 2^nd to Springwell in the team race. This race also included veteran men over 60 and the North Down trio of Terry Eakin M60, David Seaton M65 and Fred Murdoch M70 all were first in their category. In the 5 mile Open Men Race for the McConnell Shield, James Budde 24^th, Dennis Scott and Mark Weir led the North Down team of 9 finishers.
