Nicola Blitzes Crawfordsburn

[Not a valid template]Nicola Simpson made light of the conditions and blew the handicapping apart on Saturday as she easily won the club Spring Handicap for the Smith Shield over the Crawfordsburn Trail. As well as rain and wind producing the worst weather so far for either of the two club major handicaps, it was also the first time that one of them had gone to a woman. Tom Lyness was the first man, ahead of Gerry Coy with Lynne Kerr second woman. Francis Marsh had the fastest net time of the day with 17:57 min with Nicola the fastest girl. After the race, the presentations were made for the 2007-2008 club cross country awards.Inevitably someone makes the handicapper look an idiot and Nicola duly obliged but on the whole it was pretty good with something of a blanket finish for the majority and thanks are due to all who helped mark the course and did the recording.

The club awards were made to athletes who excelled in the recent cross country season but all who took part throughout the season helped make it our best ever winter  season with numerous team medals across all sections and age groups.
