TQ 10K / Mourne Peaks Race

[Not a valid template]Despite the poor conditions on Sunday almost 600 runners finished in the second running of the TitanicQuarter 10K won by Ethiopia”s Ayele Mergessa in 31:07 minutes and in a major surprise Kerry Harty  won the womens” race in 36:06. North Down AC had nine runners with Nick Arkensparr first finisher and category wins by Lynne Kerr at F45 and Ken Hawtin at M70 with Gary Swinnerton 3rd M55 and Jill Dowie 4th F35. Lynne had a great finish and beat Ruth Magill by 1 sec in the run-in. Stephanie Hambling  on Saturday had a real toughie when NIMRA hosted the opening round of the British Championship Mountain Running Championship and the new Mourne Peaks event was a marathon test of speed, endurance and mountain running skill. The 12.5 mile course took in 10 major peaks with a total climb of 6400 ft and attracted 200 plus runners from all over the British Isles. Stephanie was 189th in 4 hrs 23.10 min and in the F40 category she was 15th and 3rd Northern Irish.
