Comber Cup back on the Cross Country Programme

On Saturday Ballydrain Harriers hosted the historic Comber Cup Cross Country races, in a different time slot but back on the calendar, after an absence of several years.  In the men’s 8k race, pre-race favourite David O’Flaherty (Newcastle AC) led throughout. For North Down Stephen Wylie was 5^th in 28:30 and, as 3^rd open man reached the podium. In a close group further back, master athletes Oscar Sanchez, Simon Cummings and Gordon Wilkinson were 39^th, 42^nd and 45^th. In the ladies and Vet 60+ men’s 6k race, Terry Eakin was the 1^st Vet 60+ to finish, after recording 24:19, with Norman Lellett 4^th  in the category. U15 boys and girls ran over 3K with the North Down girls impressive. Jessica Scott, Anna Scott, Lauren Hamilton and Anna McDowell were respectively 2^nd, 3^rd, 5^th and 9^th.
