Sprints and Throws Meet – and 3K

The weather was ideal at Mary Peters on Wednesday evening for the sprints and throws meeting but continuing problems with the photofinish are causing frustration to athletes chasing qualification standards.  In a rare appearance at 100m, Hannah Lewis sent some men home unhappy by winning a mixed race in a pb of 12.3 sec. Mark Patterson ran 50.9 sec at 400m taking him second only to Roger Sexton on the club U20 all time list with Jordan Stokes and Thomas Simpson also having pbs at 400m. There were discus pbs for Gemma McAnirn and Peter Glass who for the first time registered throws over 30m and 40m respectively. Both threw well at both shot and discus as did Jeremy Harper and new recruit Kathy Hetherington while another recruit Chris Summers threw the hammer. A 3000m race was also included with Francis Marsh taking his club veteran record down to 8:57.9 min, Brian Barron also featuring. Results now available.
