Mark Patterson became the third North Down athlete to hit the Commonwealth Youth Games consideration standard at Irishtown on Saturday evening in the Irish Milers Club Meeting which had received the largest ever entry for one of their meetings. Mark blasted through the 1:54 min standard to take 2nd place in the “A” 800m race (along with 100 euro) in 1:52.32 min. Clubmate Michael Dyer was first in the race in 1:52.16, worth 80 euro, while still in the same race Jordan Neil ran a pb of 1:54.12 min, worth 50 euro. Mark says he felt really good and kicked well and, though tripped in the last 100m, finished well.
Ben Reynolds at high jump and Hannah Lewis at 200m are the other North Down athletes who have cracked the Commonwealth Youth Games consideration standard.
