The inaugural Ards Half Marathon took place on a fine night on Friday, taking the scenic route to Comber and back on the carriageway. Simon Seaton did best of the North Down runners, finishing 11th in 81:46 min. Fred Murdock was 2nd in the M65 category. The race attracted nearly 600 runners and was won by Kenyan Joseph Mbithi in 69:33 min from the Willowfield big three, compatriot Caroline Kilpl winning the womens race in 76:38 min from Pauline Curley.
