“Sea2Sky” 10K / Waterford County 5 Mile Championships

The Friday night fix this week was in Newcastle when a record 474 finishers were at the ‘Sea 2 Sky’ 10k race. in Newcastle, County Down.  Competitors started on the Central Promenade, before reaching the designated trails in Donard Forest, where they negotiated a climb to the 5k marker and then descended to the Central Promenade..  Brendan Teer (East Down AC) had another win and the first North Down runner was Ben Caughers with an impressive 17th place in 42:08 min (chip). Andrew Muir negotiated the unfamiliar territory in 47:32 with the ladies represented by Gemma McAnirn (58:57) and Sarah Benton (70:19).   Full Results:  Born 2 Run ‘Sea 2 Sky’ 10k 2014 Results

Also on Friday evening, in the Deep South Mark Weir who has been holidaying in Tramore, ran  a great 5 Miles in 29:49 min in Woodstown in the Waterford County Road Race Championships. Mark won the M40 prize in 12th overall.
