The opening of the new Westlink offered a unique opportunity to run along it before its opening to traffic. A huge crowd took the opprtunity on Sunday in the "Between the Bridges" 10K – from the Park Centre and back via Kennedy Way and Clifton Street. Simon Seaton was first North Down runner home in 11th place in 35:40 min , probably faster than you will be able to drive on it. Roberta Dornan was 5th woman, 55th overall, in 39:40 min and Debbie Matchett 203rd overall in 44:31 min. Jill Dowie was 279th in 46:28 min. The race was won by Dave Morwood in 32:21 min.
