Conditions were appalling at the weekend in Kilmarnock for the Scottish Senior Championships with strong headwinds and at times torrential rain but all the North Down contingent could do was get on with it. Curtis Woods won the 100m on Saturday, running 12.34 min in his heat into a (-5.0) headwind and 11.71 in the final when it was (-6.1). In the worst of it, Niall McGrattan was 3rd in the javelin and 1st U20 with 44.93m. Sunday was no better. Kathy Hetherington was 2nd in the discus with38.79m and promptly fled, leaving Curtis to run in the 200m with 2nd in his heat in 23.13 (-3.0) and 4th in the final in 23.79 (-7.2). Adam McComb added to the wins total, taking the 400m in 48.73 min. On Saturday, at the BMC Solihull Grand Prix, Michael Dyer ran a seasons best of 3:49.55 min to claim 5th in the 1500m ‘’B’ race.
