[Not a valid template]North Down had an iffy sort of day in far from ideal conditions at Santry in a strong Round 2 of the AAI Leeague. Preliminary results indicate the mens team were 3rd and the womens team 5th with both teams squeezing into the final at Tullamore on Saturday 8th August. The men had wins from Tom Reynolds at 110m hurdles and Michael Dyer at 800m in 16.21 sec and 1:55.82 min while Mark Patterson at 400m smashed his own club U20 record with 49.93 sec. Seconds came from James Budde at steeplechase, Jeremy Harper at shot and discus and in the 4 x 400m relay. With none of the middle distance squad available, the girls were up against it but a strong performance mainly in the field resulted in seconds from Katie Hewitt at 400m hurdles, Kathy Hetherington at discus, Sarah Newell at javelin, Katie Dickson at long and triple jump and Melissa Free at hammer.
