The biggest event to date of the cross country season took place on Sunday in Dundalk with the All Ireland Even Age Junior Championships, followed by the Senior Inter County Championship and European Trials. North Down juniors, who had all qualified from the Ulster Even Age Championships in Jordanstown did well against the cream of Irish talent. Team medals were available at 3 levels – Club (4 to count), County and Province (both 6 to count).
The day started very well with the U12 girls when Amelia Tyler and Megan Briggs were 1st and 3rd (15th and 23rd overall) of the 6 Ulster runners who took bronze in the Provincial standings. This was echoed in the U14 girls when Jessica Scott was 19th overall and 2nd Ulster in a team that took silver at Provincial level. Mollie Brown ran in a strong U16 race and was 29th in yet another huge field.
The U20 races took place over 6K for men and 4K for women. In the womens event, Katie Moore was commuting from Loughborough University and was 26th in 16:06 min. In the mens event, Corey Brown had a problem with an integral chip which read James Moore. This was pointed out before the race but was not corrected in the results.In the race,, Corey was 108th in 22:57 and Reece Simpson was 111th in 23:02.
