The now familiar story of brand leadership in girls’ sprints and mens’ throws. Amy Foster took the 1988 sprint double with 12.5 and 25.8. Kim Shaw took 1989 100m with 2nd at 200m and also won the overall triple jump. Erin Mullan, Harriet Hayhurst, Alison Lavery, Nichola Simpson and Shelley Dallas all featured. Caroline Oakes, David Keys, Joe Kingsberry, Peter Glass, Richard Lockhart, Ben Worthington, Neil Dougan and Jeremy Harper took their various throws, Jeremy with 15.39m for shot and a discus of 48.85m. Jordan Neil won his 1500m with Robin Brown, Kerry Iveston and Nicola McCaughey medalling at middle distance as did Scott McCauley, David Robb and Mark McClean in the jumps.
Amy Foster and Jeremy Harper have rewritten the club record list and look set to be club athletes of the year. Amy won 100m and 200m in her own year very easily but both times were faster than the more competitive races in the next two years. Jeremy increased his own club records with these weights in both events with the NI records very close.
Caroline Oakes added to her U17 hammer record while Kim Shaw, a rookie at triple jump was outstanding with 10.51m. Mark McClean was another good triple jump winner with 12.45m in the 1989 event.
