Alex Donald had a excellent win on Sunday in the last of the Naas Tri Club’s duathlon series in Punchestown which attracted 198 competitors. Though not feeling good and struggling with a stitch for most of the bike stage and the 2nd run, Alex achieved a good overall time. In vey squally and cold conditions, the first run was fast with Alex in front before the group split and he went into the transition in 2nd. He took the lead 200m into the cycling and that was it. Knowing in the 2nd run that he was not going to be caught, he was able to ease off and still win by 87 seconds. Alex did not do Race 2 in the series but he was 2nd in Race 1 which was the Irish trial for the European Duathlon Championship due to be held in Limerick.
