A small selection of NDAC athletes took part in the second Athletics NI indoor competition held at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown on Sat 23rd January. Events on offer were the 60m, 60mH & shot putt.
In the shot putt Beth Crosbie threw 7.31m in the U18 shot (3kg) and Molly Longstaff threw 7.13m in the U17 shot (3kg).
In the 60mH Katie Kimber finished 5th in the U14 race in 11.45s. The U20/Senior 60mH was a combined race and saw Tom Reynolds competing against two of the athletes he coaches. He ran 8.52s finishing 2nd in race one & 8.48s finishing 2nd in race two.
Katie Kimber also took part in the flat sprint running 9.06s to finish 2nd in the U14 60m while in the U17 races Luke Adair finished 3rd in 7.85s and Molly Longstaff came 4th in 8.57s. Michael Gaffney had a rare excursion onto the track finishing 2nd in heat 1 of the U19 60m in 7.66s.
Andrew Mellon (Sen) showed an impressive turn of speed when he stepped down well below his usual distance to compete in the combined U20/Senior 60m. He ran 7.05s when finishing 3rd in race 1/heat 2 & 7.03s to finish 2nd in race 2/heat 3. Roger Sexton (M45) ran 7.66s finishing 2nd in heat 1/race 1 & 7.62s to win race 2/heat 1
