Conditions were near perfect for these races. Results of the 4-strong North Down Men"s team in the 5k race were:58th Francis Marsh 15:50, 61st James Budde 16:05, 62nd John Carlisle 16:07pb, 68th Nick Arkensparr 16:31pb (pb by 46 secs!). Terry Eakin took on the later 3k clocking 10:35ish.
US athlete David Nightingale set a new course record of 13:54 in winning the 5k with Chris Thompson (Eng) 2 seconds behind in 2nd. Mark Carroll (Irl) was 3rd in 13:57. Kate Reed & Maria McCambidge were late withdrawals in the women"s 3k – won convincingly by Kerry Harty in 9:30 and ahead of US based 800m specialist Jemma Simpson (Eng).
