The heavens opened but the marquee had been erected in time and this never-seeming -to-end track season reached some kind of closure. The team trophies were all on display, results from the Club Championships were known, awards for the season were made, the barbie sizzled, Mrs Colwell’s cake was a hit, the quiz night was held and the games room was going strong. The night was a brilliant success and many thanks to Gillian and Geoffrey for hosting it at The Old Schoolhouse.[Not a valid template]
For the record, at the Club Championships Kathryn Colwell won the U13 girls, Hannah Lewis the U15’s, Amy Foster the U17’s and Janine Munnis the Open Women’s. Steven Colwell won the U13 boys, Grant Montgomery the U15’s, Nathan Barnett the U17’s, David Robb the U20’s, and Pat O’Driscoll the veteran’s. Weglarz Trophies for improvement and club support went to Katie Hewitt, Jessica Craig, Andrew Bradley, Jordan Neil and Michael Dyer. The Moffitt Cup for most improved thrower went to David Keys. In a break with recent history the Athletes of the Year were Jeremy Harper and Amy Foster.
It’s goodbye to the ones heading off to University and together we have seen some great years through the Young Athletes League, the Golden Fours and the Mazda League. All intend to be back and let’s hope so. Que serra serra. In the meantime there are talented juniors hungry for success.
