Lagan Valley AC hosted a race in Barnetts Park to open the earliest ever cross country season with a good club turnout on a hot day. Glen Willis, Harry Speers, Roger Dawson and Sam McKibbin took the first four places in the boys school year 9/10 race with Chloe Johnston 7th in the girls year 8 race. At senior level Francis Marsh was 2nd overall with Brian Barron 6th, Thomas Simpson 8th, Tony Wall the first veteran in 9th, John McGarvey 10th and Kendrick Helliway 12th. Stephanie Hambling was first female vet. It was a weekend doble for Glen Willis who on the Friday evening had run 21:34 min in the NICS 5K Trail Race at Stormont where David Seaton ran 19:01 and Darren McKee 19:17. A longer challenge was presented to Mark Hopkins who ran inside 3 hours in the Ben Nevis race, running 2:59.18 for 411th.
